Coast Guard suspends search for missing diver

BOSTON — The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended the search for a missing diver near Hatches Harbor, Mass., at 5:07 p.m., May 24, 2011.

Coast Guard crews searched nearly 44 hours, covering approximately 700 square miles to locate the 37-year old diver after receiving a report from the fishing vessel Chase that he did not resurface after diving, May 23.

Crews from Air Station Cape Cod, Station Chatham, Station Provincetown, Coast Guard Cutter Flying Fish and local authorities were involved in the search.

Rescue crews are standing by pending further developments.
