NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard suspended its search at noon today for the missing crewmember who fell overboard from a 600-foot freight vessel, Vita Pride, 17 miles southeast of Southwest Pass, Sunday.
The search began Sunday after a crewmember from the Vita Pride contacted the Coast Guard and reported Episanio Odavar, 39, had fallen overboard.
The Coast Guard searched for more than 48 hours using a 41-foot rescue boat from Sector New Orleans, a HH-65C rescue helicopter from Air Station New Orleans, and the Coast Guard Cutter Sturgeon.
