The Coast Guard Cutter Vigorous searched throughout the night and a HU25 Falcon jet searched this morning at first light; both were unable to locate the victim.
During the course of the 24-hour search, the Coast Guard searched more than 800 miles with four boat crews, two rescue helicopters, and a Falcon jet.
“It is always difficult to suspend a search,” said Lt. j.g. Marie Haywood, command duty officer at Coast Guard Sector Boston. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of the crewman who fell overboard.”
