Coast Guard suspends search for missing boater south of Francis Scott Key Bridge

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard ended its search Tuesday for a missing boater approximately two miles south of the Francis Scott Key Bridge after a body was recovered in Brewerton Channel.

Deceased is David Frantzen.

The Coast Guard began its search for Frantzen after a boat he was on was discovered Monday abandoned at Sparrows Point.
Sector watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast Monday and launched a crew from Coast Guard Station Curtis Bay aboard a 45-foot Response Boat – Medium.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey, aided with the search Tuesday along with personnel from Maryland Natural Resource Police and Baltimore County and Anne Arundel police departments.

The Coast Guard searched for approximately 11 hours, covering 175 miles.
