Coast Guard suspends search for missing boater near Salisbury Beach

BOSTON — The Coast Guard suspended the search Wednesday at 7:19 a.m., for a boater that went missing Tuesday off Salisbury Beach.

The search was suspended following a first light search conducted by a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Merrimack River and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod.

Approximately 67 miles of track line was searched in a 14 square mile area over 17 hours.

The search included:

  • An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod
  • A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat from Station Merrimack River
  • The Salisbury Harbor Master
  • Salisbury Police Department
  • Merrimack Police Department
  • Newburyport Police department

The search will remain suspended pending the development of new information.
