Coast Guard suspends search for missing boater

BALTIMORE (D5 Public Affairs) – The Coast Guard suspended its search today for a missing boater in the Potomac River near Craney Island, Md.

Rescue crews from Coast Guard Station Washington, D.C., Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City N.J., the Maryland Natural Resource Police and Charles County searched 732 miles for the man who had been reported overdue Monday.

“The Coast Guard encourages boaters to file a float plan with family or friends, telling them where they are going, when they will be back and to notify them of any changes to the plan,” said Scott Winslow of Coast Guard Sector Baltimore.
