PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard suspended their search Monday after a body was recovered from the Albemarle Sound.
A Hertford County side scan sonar team located the man’s body and a Perquimans County dive team recovered him.
A motorist driving over the bridge contacted Coast Guard Sector North Carolina Command Center watchstanders at approximately 11:30 a.m. Sunday reporting they saw a person fall overboard and was in need of assistance.
Two MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crews from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., and a crew aboard a 25-foot Response Boat – Small from Coast Guard Station Elizabeth City searched for the man.
