Coast Guard suspends search for man near Port Hueneme

SAN PEDRO, Calif. – The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a 25 year-old man who reportedly jumped from the Port Hueneme Pier, Thursday evening.

The Coast Guard and Ventura County rescuers discontinued the search at 9:45 a.m., Friday, after multiple searches were performed through the evening and into the morning by both helicopters and boats.

Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach was notified by Ventura County and immediately dispatched a 47-foot motor life boat from Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor and a MH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles to search the area. The 87-foot Coast Guard Cutter Halibut also assisted in search efforts.

Channels Islands Harbor Patrol, Port Hueneme Harbor Patrol, and other local agencies searched the area with boats, helicopters and divers
