Coast Guard suspends search for man near Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard suspended the search for a 23-year-old male at 10:46 a.m. who went missing in the Delaware River near Penn’s Landing Saturday.

The Coast Guard received a call at 2:06 a.m. from a member of the Philadelphia Police Department reporting the man was wearing a blue shirt with blue jeans and entered the water with a family member. The family member exited the water and reported the 23-year-old was having trouble swimming and was not wearing a life jacket.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Philadelphia and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., and a boat crew from the Philadelphia Fire Department searched for the man.
