Coast Guard suspends search for man missing in the South River near Annapolis

BALTIMORE – The Coast Guard suspended its search for a missing 32-year-old man in the South River near Annapolis, Md., 11 a.m., Monday.

Coast Guard initially responded to a distress call via marine-band radio, channel 16, at 3:32 p.m., Friday, reporting that a man was swimming in the South River and did not re-surface.

A 25-foot response boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Annapolis arrived on scene first and began searching for the missing man. Rescue crews from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., Maryland Natural Resources Police, Sea Tow, Anne Arundel County Fire Rescue, Coast Guard Auxiliary and numerous Good Samaritans also participated in the search efforts.
