Coast Guard suspends search for kayaker in Potomac River

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard suspended its search at approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday for a missing 23-year-old man whose kayak was found overturned in the Potomac River Wednesday.

Missing is Jeryll Dickerson.

The Coast Guard searched a total of 48 square miles during a period of 15 hours.

A crew aboard a 29-foot Response Boat – Small from Coast Guard Station St. Inigoes, an aircrew aboard an HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey, a Westmoreland fire rescue boatcrew, Maryland Natural Resources Police boatcrews, a St. Mary’s County fire rescue boat crew and a Maryland State Police helicopter aircrew responded to the search for Dickerson.
