Coast Guard suspends search for 49-year-old man in Lynn

BOSTON – The Coast Guard suspended its search at 10:23 a.m. Friday for a missing 49-year-old welder in Lynn Harbor, Mass., after he was last seen working on a barge at the Seaport Landing Marina in Lynn, Mass., Thursday.

Rescue crews searched with seven assets with no sign of the man.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston were notified by Lynn Fire Dispatch reporting that a welder working on the barge had not been seen for approximately 45 minutes.

He is described as a 49-year-old white male, five-foot-six inches and 200 pounds. He was reportedly wearing dungaree jeans and a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Searching were crews from:

  • Coast Guard Station Point Allerton, Mass.
  • Two Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., MH-60 Jayhawk helicopters
  • Lynn Police Department
  • Lynn Fire Department
  • Massachusetts State Police divers
  • Lynn Harbormaster

Weather on scene is two-foot seas with 16-knot winds. The water temperature is 46 degrees and the air temperature is 60.
