HOUSTON — The Coast Guard conducted an overflight with Congressional representatives to survey the aftermath of Tropical Depression Imelda near Beaumont, Texas, Saturday.
Rear Adm. John Nadeau, commanding officer, Eighth Coast Guard District, was joined by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX14) and Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX36) aboard a Coast Guard HC-144 Ocean Sentry out of Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi to view areas impacted by Tropical Depression Imelda.
Following the overflight, Nadeau, Cruz, Weber and Babin were briefed at the Beaumont emergency operations center regarding the flood response, and then provided a press briefing at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston.
“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the families who have been impacted by this disaster,” said Nadeau. “The Coast Guard strives to be ready and responsive to serve the American public and assist local partners whenever a disaster strikes.”
