Coast Guard Station Venice medevacs woman from cruise ship

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 65-year-old woman from a cruise ship approximately 25 miles south of Southwest Pass in the Gulf of Mexico, Friday.

The Coast Guard received a call from the Carnival Cruise ship Triumph at approximately 7:30 p. m., reporting that a passenger was suffering from pneumonia and requested a medevac.

Coast Guard Station Venice launched a small boat and crew and safely transported the passenger to Acadian Logistics Air Field, where she was then transported by Acadian Air Ambulance to a local hospital.

Her condition is unknown.
