NEW YORK — Coast Guard Station Shinnecock held a change of command ceremony in Long Island, New York, Wednesday.
Chief Warrant Officer Andrew White, who took command of Station Shinnecock in 2013, was relieved of his duties and responsibilities by Chief Warrant Officer Richard Berg.
Stations Shinnecock’s missions include Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, and Homeland Security on the South Shore of Long Island.
Station boat assets log thousands of hours every year conducting homeland security, law enforcement and search and rescue missions from the waters of Patchogue to Shelter Island, including the Peconic Bay and Moriches Bay.
The change of command ceremony is a time-honored naval tradition, which formally acknowledges the transfer of responsibility, authority and accountability from one individual to another.
