Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook medevacs Fisheries observer

NEW YORK – The Coast Guard medically evacuated a Federal Fisheries observer Tuesdfay after he suffered an injury to his arm while aboard a commercial fishing vessel, two miles east of Sandy Hook, N.J.

The captain of the fishing vessel Chele-C contacted Coast Guard Sector New York’s command center, requesting medical assistance for the observer on board.

A rescue boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook responded, sending two crewmembers aboard the fishing vessel to administer first aid to the injured observer.

The Station Sandy Hook boatcrew then transferred the patient to local emergency medical service, which transported him to the Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J.

Coast Guard Sector New York is currently investigating the incident.
