Coast Guard Station rescues two rafters near Fire Island, N.Y.

25 FairportNew York – Coast Guard Station Fire Island crewmembers rescue two distressed rafters near Fire Island Inlet, Saturday.

At 1:34 p.m., Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound command center received a call from a good Samaritan reporting two women on a small rubber raft being swept out of Fire Island Inlet.

Sector Long Island Sound watchstandards diverted a Coast Guard Station Fire Island rescue boatcrew to the scene.

Station Fire Island crewmembers arrived on scene at 1:45 p.m., rescued the two distressed rafters from the water and safely transported them to the Robert Moses boat ramp.

No injuries have been reported.
