Coast Guard Station Oak Island medevacs pregnant woman from Bald Head Island, NC

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 30-year-old , pregnant woman Monday from Bald Head Island.

Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders in Wilmington received a request for assistance from the public safety officer at Bald Head Island at approximately 2:50 a.m., stating the woman was experiencing pain and complications related to her pregnancy and required transportation to Southport for medical attention.

Coast Guard Station Oak Island launched a 25-foot Response Boat-Small crew. The crew picked up the woman at the Bald Head Island Marina and transported her to Deep Port Marina in Southport. She was placed in the care of Southport EMS at approximately 4:40 a.m.
