Coast Guard Station Mayport crew medevacs 11-year-old girl from Carnival cruise ship Fascination

d7MAYPORT, FLA. — The Coast Guard medevaced an 11-year-old girl after she suffered a head injury from a fall aboard a cruise ship, 10 miles east of Mayport, Thursday.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville command center received a report at approximately 8 p.m., from the Carnival cruise ship Fascination, stating a young girl had suffered trauma to the head and had briefly lost consciousness.

A Coast Guard boatcrew aboard a 45-foot Response Boat — Medium was deployed to assist. The crew brought the girl and her mother aboard and transported them to Coast Guard Station Mayport where local EMS was standing by.

The girl is reported in stable condition.
