PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard rescued two men after they went missing near Mispillion, Delaware, Monday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received a report at about 9 p.m. from a 911 dispatcher stating that a father and son were overdue after the men went boating near Cedar Creek Boat Ramp earlier Sunday afternoon. The Coast Guard and partner agencies searched for more than seven hours before locating the missing persons.
Coast Guard Station Indian River located the two men aboard a disabled 20-foot recreational boat at about 4 a.m.
Coast Guard assets responded include:
- An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter air crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey
- A 45-foot Motor Lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape May, New Jersey
- A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew from Station Indian River, Delaware
- The Coast Guard Cutter Mako
Also responded were the Bowers Beach, Delaware, Fire Department; Slaughter Beach, Delaware, Fire Department; Lewes, Delaware, Fire Department and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
No injuries were reported.
