Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce rescues two people from water

MIAMI — Two people were rescued by a crew from Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce, Fla., in the vicinity of Fort Pierce Inlet, Fla., Sunday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce received a report from a Fort Pierce Inlet State Park Ranger of two people stranded on the Fort Pierce Inlet jetties. Station Fort Pierce diverted a rescue boat to provide assistance.

Using a heaving line and a life ring, the Coast Guard crew transferred life jackets to the two people stranded on the jetty. Once the swimmers were safely wearing life jackets, the crew pulled the survivors to the boat and safely brought them aboard the rescue boat. The survivors were treated for minor injuries and were taken back to Station Fort Pierce.
