Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce rescues boat fire victim

MIAMI — A boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce, Fla., rescued a boat fire victim in the Fort Pierce Inlet Saturday morning.

Coast Guard Sector Miami watchstanders received notification of a fire on a pleasure craft with two people aboard shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday. It was reported that one of the boaters suffered burns to his hands and legs, but the other boater was uninjured.

Once on scene, the Station Fort Pierce 33-foot Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement vessel crew transferred the boaters to awaiting EMS personnel at Station Fort Pierce.

Personnel from the Martin County Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. A commercial salvage company took the vessel in tow.
