Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach to Receive Readiness Award

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – The crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach, Fla., are scheduled to receive the Sumner I. Kimball Readiness Award, Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach.

The award will be presented to the crewmembers by Capt. Joseph Servidio, commander of Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Fla., for their outstanding performance during a biennial evaluation by the Coast Guard Standardization Team (STANTEAM).

During the evaluation, crewmembers were tested in their ability to handle situations and use equipment properly when dealing with search and rescue, towing and engineering casualties.

The crewmembers were also tested with a comprehensive written exam, covering a broad spectrum of Coast Guard mission knowledge, which included rescue and survival, boat equipment, boat missions, environmental limitations, navigational rules, engineering systems and first aid.

The Sumner I. Kimball Award is presented to the Coast Guard stations that have scored in the top ten percentile of all Coast Guard units during the STANTEAM evaluation.
