Coast Guard Station Fort Macon medevacs man from sailboat

BEAUFORT INLET, N.C. – The Coast Guard medevaced a 58-year-old male from a sailing vessel anchored in Taylor’s Creek near Beaufort Inlet Tuesday.

The Coast Guard received a call at 6:26 p.m. reporting that a crewmember aboard the sailing vessel Direction might be having a stroke.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Fort Macon, N.C., was dispatched and arrived on scene at 6:54 p.m.

Emergency medical service personnel aboard the rescue boat determined that the subject should be medically evacuated.

The rescue boat crew transported the man to Beaufort water front where emergency medical services personnel were waiting to transfer him to Carteret General Hospital.
