Coast Guard Station Charleston medevacs 2 after boat collision in Shem Creek

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Coast Guard crewmembers medevaced two men after their boats collided at the mouth of Shem Creek, Thursday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Charleston received the initial report of the collision from a boater in the area who reportedly witnessed the incident. A boatcrew was launched aboard a 45-foot Response Boat — Medium from Coast Guard Station Charleston to assist. Upon arriving on scene, the crew brought the two men aboard who had been involved in the collision. Both men suffered head injuries as a result of the crash.

The men were taken to Magwood Dock in Shem Creek where local EMS was standing by and transported them to the Medical University of South Carolina for treatment.
