Coast Guard HC-144 crew finds lost family

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Coast Guard and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department located a lost family, Sunday, near the Escatawpa, Ala., Hollow Campground at approximately 1:15 a.m.

Found safe were Lee Jaske, 26, Candice Jaske, 23, and Nathan Jaske, 5.

A Coast Guard HC-144 aircraftCoast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received notification of a lost family that did not return from a tubing trip at approximately 7 p.m., Saturday, from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sector Mobile command center launched an HC-144 aircraft from Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile to assist the sheriff’s two small boats and multiple four-wheeled vehicles with the search.

The HC-144 aircraft and crew located the Jaske family at approximately 12:15 a.m., and vectored the sheriffs to their location.

EMS checked and released all the members of the family with no injuries or medical concerns.

“Credit to the quick recovery of the Jaske family belongs to the diligent search efforts by the crew of the HC-144 and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department,” said Lt. Matthew Mitchell, command duty officer for Sector Mobile.
