Coast Guard sets safety zone, river closure on Beaver River

PITTSBURGH — The U. S. Coast Guard is scheduled to establish a safety zone and a river closure on Beaver River, Saturday and Sunday, in preparation for the Bridgewater Beaver County River Regatta events and fireworks show.

The river closure will be from mile marker 0.3 to 0.7, near the Bridgewater/Madison Street Bridge, Saturday, from 10:30 a.m., until 1:30 p.m., as well as a closure from 3:15 p.m., until 5:30 p.m.

For Sunday, there will be a safety zone from mile marker 0.5 to 0.6. The closures will be from 11:30 a.m., until 1:30 p.m., including 2 p.m., until 4:30 p.m. Additionally, there are closures from 9:30 p.m., until 11 p.m., which will be 200 feet from the left descending river bank near McKinley Run.

Mariners shall not enter into, depart from, or move within the safety zone unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port Pittsburgh or a designated representative. All concerned mariners may contact the Coast Guard on the day of the event on VHF-FM Channel 16 for more information.
