Coast Guard sets safety zone on the Ohio River

PITTSBURGH — The U. S. Coast Guard is scheduled to establish a safety zone on the Ohio River, Saturday, in preparation for the Wheeling Heritage Port Sternwheel Foundation fireworks show.

The safety zone will extend the width of the river from mile marker 90.2, near the Interstate Highway 70 Bridge, to 90.5, near the 10th Street Wheeling Highway Bridge, and will be enforced from 8:45 p.m., until 10:15 p.m.

Mariners shall not enter into, depart from, or move within the safety zone unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port Pittsburgh or a designated representative. All concerned mariners may contact the Coast Guard on the day of the event on VHF-FM Channel 16 for more information.
