Coast Guard sets safety zone for Thunder on the Gulf

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Coast Guard is scheduled to establish a safety zone in the Gulf of Mexico, south of Orange Beach, Ala., Friday, in preparation for the Thunder on the Gulf high-speed boat race.

The safety zone will be approximately one mile offshore Orange Beach and west of Perdido Pass, Fla., from 9 a.m., until 7 p.m., Friday to Sunday.

Mariners shall not enter into, depart from, or move within the safety zone unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port Mobile or a designated representative. All concerned mariners may contact the Coast Guard on the day of the event on VHF-FM Channel 16 for more information.
