Coast Guard seeks public’s help in search for possible missing kite surfer

Charleston, S.C. — The Coast Guard is seeking the public’s help in identifying the owner of a kite surfboard that was found on the beach at Isle of Palms, S.C.

Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center were notified of the situation by Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch. The report stated the kite surfboard was located in the vicinity of 14th Avenue, in Isle of Palms.

Crewmembers aboard a rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Charleston and a helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, Ga., are searching for a possible missing person. Also assisting in the search are crews from Charleston County Fire Department and Isle of Palms Fire Department.

Anyone who can identify the kite surfboard and knows the owner is asked to call the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center immediately at 843-740-7050.
