Coast Guard Seeks Public Assistance in Search for Missing Man

NAPLES, Fla. – Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg is asking the public to contact them at 727-824-7506 with any information that may be helpful in locating a person in the water about 10-nautical-miles west of Naples, Fla.

The Coast Guard received a call from a Good Samaritan at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday stating that he had pulled someone from the water near Naples. The survivor reported that he was in a 34-foot, white and yellow vessel with two other people aboard when it capsized near Naples.

Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach pulled one of the other missing boaters from the water at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Both men were wearing life jackets. The two survivors were brought to Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla., Saturday.

A C-130 search plane from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater and the Coast Guard Cutter Marlin, home ported in Fort Myers, Fla., are currently searching the area for the third missing boater.
