Coast Guard Seeking Information on Missing Boaters

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Searchers are looking for information on two people who reported to Calvert County, Md., 911 that their boat was sinking in the Chesapeake Bay at about 1:15 a.m. today.

Operators received three short, broken mobile phone calls from two people who reported they were between Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Plant and Taylor’s Island in the Chesapeake Bay.

Two Maryland State Police helicopters searched through the night, but were forced off the search by fog. Crews from Calvert County Fire Rescue also joined the search. A boat crew from Coast Guard Station Oxford is still searching this morning. A helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., is on standby to join the search once visibility improves

The Coast Guard is looking for information on two people who have not returned from a boating trip between Calvert County on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay and Dorchester County on the Eastern Shore.
