San Diego – The Coast Guard medically evacuated the 64-year-old master of a Malaysian-flagged ship nearly 80 miles south of San Clemente Island, Tuesday.

The agent of the motor vessel Bunga Kasturi Dua requested the medevac after the master began experiencing gastrointestinal distress symptoms.

A Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter conducted the medevac and brought the man to the Sector.

The man was transferred to emergency medical personnel at approximately 6:50 a.m., for further care.
