HUNTINGTON, W.Va – The Captain of the Port for Coast Guard Sector Ohio Valley has temporarily reopened the Ohio River in the vicinity near the Pomeroy Bridge demolition and salvage operations today.
The closure in the vicinity of the Pomeroy Bridge will reopen this evening to all river traffic from 4 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday. This section of the river will again be closed after 7 a.m. Friday for a minimum of 12 hours so crews can continue to work on debris removal from the Pomeroy Bridge demolition.
The Coast Guard is currently working with the Army Corps of Engineers, the towing industry, and both the Ohio and W.Va. Departments of Natural Resources to ensure safety in the vicinity of the salvage operations.
