Coast Guard Sector Mobile holds Change of Command

MOBILE, Ala. — Capt. Duke Walker transferred command of Coast Guard Sector Mobile to Capt. Joe Snowden during a change-of-command ceremony at the Alabama Cruise Terminal in Mobile, Alabama, Thursday.

Capt. Joe Snowden assumed command of Sector Mobile and responsibility for operations along the Gulf coastline and the adjacent offshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico, as well as the inland waterways systems. Snowden previously served as Deputy Commander of Sector Mobile.

After the change-of-command ceremony, Capt. Walker retired after serving the U.S. Coast Guard for 28 years.

The change-of-command ceremony is a time-honored tradition and deeply rooted in Coast Guard and Naval history. The event signifies a total transfer of responsibility, authority and accountability for the command.
