SAN PEDRO, Calif. — Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles – Long Beach is scheduled to hold a change-of-command ceremony at Reservation Point on Terminal Island, Friday May 25th at 10 a.m.

Capt. Roger Laferierre, who took command of Sector LA-LB in July 2009, will transfer the duties and responsibilities of sector commander to Capt. James Jenkins, who has served as deputy commander there since June 2010.

Upon relief of command, Laferierre will retire from the Coast Guard after 24 years of honorable service.

Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach is responsible for the execution of all Coast Guard missions in an area of responsibility that stretches south to the San Diego County line and north to Morro Bay, Calif.
