Coast Guard, Seattle Fire and Police rescue 4 near Alki Point

SEATTLE — A Coast Guard boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Seattle rescued three people after their 30-foot vessel capsized near Alki Point, Wash., Friday afternoon.

A fourth individual was pulled from the water by Seattle Police Department Dive Team personnel and transported to Harborview Medical Center by a Coast Guard aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles, Wash.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound were notified at 1:55 p.m. of the capsized vessel and dispatched boatcrews from Station Seattle aboard a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium and 25-foot Response Boat-Small. Personnel from the Seattle Fire Department and Seattle Police Department also responded and assisted in the search.

The three individuals rescued by the Coast Guard boatcrew were transported to Station Seattle and transferred to waiting emergency medical services.

Coast Guard and Seattle Fire and Police Department personnel regularly train alongside one another to streamline rescue efforts and maximize cooperation during responses.
