NEW ORLEANS – Coast Guard crews from Texas and Louisiana are searching for three remaining passengers of the 60-foot fishing vessel Silverwings.
At approximately 4 p.m. today, the Coast Guard received an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) signal from the Silverwings and launched an HU-25 Falcon jet from Air Station Corpus Christi to investigate. The Falcon crew located the vessel’s deflated life raft about 100 miles south of Grand Isle. A good samaritan from the vessel Crosby Challenger found and rescued one passenger from the water who was clinging to a life ring nearby.
Coast Guard crews from Air Station New Orleans, Air Station Corpus Christi and the Coast Guard Cutter Pelican, along with good samaritans, are searching for the remaining crewmembers.
