Coast Guard searching for woman in Biscayne Bay

Hoist OpsCoast Guard and partner agencies are searching for a woman assumed to have fallen overboard in the vicinity of Biscayne Bay, Florida, early Monday morning.

Missing is a 26-year-old Florida resident.

Coast Guard Sector Miami received initial notification from Miami Dade Police shortly after midnight Monday morning stating that a boater was transiting from Stiltsville, Florida, to Matheson Hammock Park, Florida, with a woman who he believed was down below in the cabin sleeping. Upon arrival to Matheson Hammock Park, the operator of the vessel realized that the woman was not sleeping in the cabin and notified authorities that she was missing.

Search crews currently on scene include:

  • Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter
  • Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission smallboat
  • Miami Fire-Rescue Central smallboat
  • Miami Fire-Rescue North smallboat
  • Miami Fire-Rescue North helicopter
