Coast Guard searching for two near Freeport Texas

HOUSTON – Coast Guard search and rescue crews are currently searching for two men who disappeared while fishing near the mouth of the Brazos River in Freeport Sunday.

Watchstanders at Sector Houston-Galveston received a call at 10:56 a.m. from the Freeport Police Department reporting that two men had reportedly been swept out to sea while wade-fishing in the Gulf of Mexico near the mouth of the Brazos River.

Coast Guard search and rescue coordinators launched a 41-foot utility boat crew from Station Freeport and an Air Station Houston MH-65C rescue helicopter and crew to search for the men.

The Freeport police and fire departments have also taken part in the search effort.
