Coast Guard searching for, seeking information about woman last seen in Halifax River

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – The Coast Guard is looking for any information about a woman who was last seen swimming in the Halifax River near the Seabreeze Bridge in Daytona Beach, Florida, Wednesday.

Two witnesses reported seeing the woman jump into the river to swim to the other side but lost sight of her and called 911.

Dispatchers notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville at 9 a.m.

Currently searching are boatcrews from Coast Guard Station Ponce De Leon Inlet, Florida, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commision and Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, is also preparing to search.

Responders do not know the woman’s identity and are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville by calling 904-564-7512.
