Coast Guard searching for possible person in the water, seeks public’s assistance

KITTERY, Maine – The Coast Guard is searching for a possible person in the water near the Piscataqua River entrance Nov. 6, 2010.

Coast Guard Sector Northern New England was notified by the fishing vessel Vickie Ann at around 1:40 p.m., that there was a camouflage boot, lifejacket, and several duck decoys in the water.

Coast Guard Station Portsmouth Harbor was launched and arrived on scene around 2 p.m. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter at around 3 p.m., which is en route the search area. The Coast Guard Cutter Reliance, Coast Guard Auxiliary Air, Maine Marine Patrol, and New Hampshire Marine Patrol are also involved in the search.
