Coast Guard searching for possible person in the water near Providence

BOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for a possible person in the water by the Henderson Bridge on the Seekonk River in Providence, R.I., Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England in Woods Hole, Mass., were notified of a possible person in the water at 6:13 p.m. Saturday, from the Rhode Island Task Force.

A crew from Coast Guard Station Castle Hill in Newport, R.I., and local marine units from Providence, Warwick, Bristol and Pawtucket are currently searching.

Anyone with information is requested to contact Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England at 508-457-3211 or on VHF channel 16.
