NEW YORK — The Coast Guard is searching for a possible person in the water near New London, Conn., Thursday evening.

The Coast Guard and New London police are searching near Ocean Beach Park after receiving a 911-call at approximately 7:00 p.m. from an individual stating they saw someone enter the water and not resurface.

Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound issued a Urgent Marine Information Broadcast (UMIB) and launched a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod and a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Coast Guard Station New London.

Boaters on the Thames River are urged to keep an eye out for a person near Ocean Beach Park.
