Coast Guard searching for possible missing person in the water

SAN PEDRO – The Coast Guard and Venture County Fire Department are searching for a possible person in the water near Mandalay State Beach, Calif., Thursday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach command center received notification of a possible missing person in the water at 2:15 p.m.

The individual was described to be a caucasian male, appearing to be in his twenties with black swimming trunks.

Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach immediately launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor to search for the missing person.

Along with the response boat, a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Forward Operating Base Point Mugu was also launched to assist in the search.

Ventura County Fire Department also has assisted in the search for the missing person.

He was reported last seen at 12:18 p.m., at Mandalay State Beach entering the water. The man left blue jeans with a red belt, a grey-hooded sweatshirt, and a white and orange t-shirt on the beach.
