Coast Guard searching for possible missing kitesurfer, seeks public’s assistance

BOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for a possible missing kitesurfer after a kiteboard and sail came ashore on Red River Beach, in Harwich, Mass., Friday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England in Woods Hole, Mass., received a call at approximately 3:45 p.m. Friday, from the Harwich Police Department reporting that a blue kiteboard with the wording “Techno 283” and an orange sail with the wording “Phase 6.0” had come ashore on the beach.

Currently searching are crews from:

  • Coast Guard Station Chatham, Mass.
  • Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter
  • Harwich Police Department

 
Anyone with information about the owner of the kite or sail is requested to contact the Coast Guard at 508-457-3211 or on VHF Channel 16.
