Coast Guard searching for possible missing boater

7th Coast Guard District NewsCHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard is conducting a search for possible missing boaters 65-mile east of Charleston, Friday.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Coast Guard Sector Charleston watchstanders received report of an orange type-II personal floatation device found floating alongside a pink child’s life ring, and a radio call for “help” was also heard on VHF channel 16 approximately 65-miles east of Charleston.

Searching are:

  • MH-65 Dolphin air crew from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston, S.C.
  • HC-130 Hercules air crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, NC
  • Coast Guard Cutter Seneca
