MIAMI – Coast Guard aircrews aboard an HU-25 Falcon jet from Air Station Miami and an H-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Clearwater, Fla., are responding to a report of a downed aircraft, with two people on board, near New Providence, Bahamas.
Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration contacted search and rescue coordinators in Miami after a plane was lost on radar and could no longer be reached by radio.
The plane, a single engine turbo prop, was en route to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., when it was last seen on radar about 20 miles north of New Providence.
