ROCKLAND, Maine – The Coast Guard is asking the public for any information that may help in their search for a possible swimmer in distress in Rockland Harbor, Friday, Aug. 20, 2010.
Coast Guard Station Rockland received a call from a Good Samaritan reporting the swimmer after she saw the man swimming and taking several breaks before she lost sight of him around 3:50 p.m.
The swimmer, described as an adult male with white hair wearing a black dry suit, red shirt, fins, and snorkel, was last seen from Cooper Beach swimming toward the Rockland breakwater.
Crews from Coast Guard Station Rockland, the Maine Marine Patrol and the harbor master are searching the shoreline and waters of Rockland Harbor.
