NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching a person in the water after a ultralight aircraft was downed near Panama City Beach, Florida, Thursday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at approximately 6:35 a.m. from Coast Guard Station Panama City that an ultra-light aircraft carrying one person went down approximately one nautical mile south of the shoreline.
Sector watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew and a Station Panama City 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew. Personnel from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Bay County Sheriff’s Office are also on scene with air and water assets.
